Our Projects

  • Mammography Assistance

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women. Each year it is estimated that over 252,710 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,500 will die.

The annual Golf With a Purpose tournament raises $14,000 for the Hancock Medical Foundation Mammography Assistance Program to provide free mammograms for the uninsured in Hancock County.

  • Telestroke in the ER

When a patient arrives at the emergency department with stroke symptoms, a computer with an advanced webcam is in the room connecting the patient with a vascular neurologist on call at Ochsner. The neurologist, patient and clinical team can see and speak to each other throughout the consult.

The Foundation commited $35,000 for telestroke operational expenses to go with a grant from the Ochsner Health System, which purchased the telestroke equipment for Ochsner Medical Center-Hancock.

  • Surgery Department Endoscope Reprocessor

A new sterilizer for endoscopes {$50,000) in the Surgery Department.
