About Us

Mission: to assist with improving the health and wellbeing of people who live and work in Hancock County, especially people whose unique health care needs have not been met because of unforeseen circumstances.

Our Story

On March 15, 1993, the Hancock Medical Center (HMC) Foundation, Inc. was officially established by resolution and with By-Laws approved by the Hospital Board of Trustees. Foundation Board of Directors were appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve terms as specified in the By-laws. From 1993 to 2018, the HMC Foundation raised funds through donations and events to purchase numerous items of “much needed” medical equipment and several properties and buildings that were donated to Hancock Medical Center.

In April 2018 when Hancock Medical Center became part of Ochsner Health System and rebranded as Ochsner Medical Center – Hancock, the HMC Foundation was no longer an entity under the auspices of the Board of Trustees and changes were required for the Foundation to continue to operate independently from the hospital.

In December 2018, the Foundation was officially renamed “The Hancock Health Foundation Inc.”. The application was made with and approved by, the State of Mississippi and the Internal Revenue Service to change the name of the Foundation.

The Hancock Health Foundation Inc. continues to partner with Ochsner Medical Center-Hancock and with other Hancock County not-for-profit entities to raise funds to provide medically related support in an effort to enhance medical services available to the citizens of our community.
